The movie, directed by Roland Emmerich last summer in Montreal, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before opening in cinemas on Sept. 25.

War of the Planet of the Apes follows last year’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Those two films — which were partly made in B.C. — grossed a combined $1.2 billion worldwide.
