What you need to know about Andrew from ‘Weakest Link’

Pop Goes The News – Andrew Campbell was the standout contestant on this week’s episode of the NBC reboot of Weakest Link – even though he didn’t win. (Spoiler alert: He finished third.)

“You’ve got a really cute smile,” host Jane Lynch told Campbell. “But a lot of bad answers.”

On Twitter, at least one person took exception to Lynch’s description. “Andrew is HOT, not cute,” @swimmer_michael fumed.

Few would disagree with the “bad answers” part, though. Campbell identified BTS – the world’s most successful pop group – as “KOS” and didn’t know that Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes five times.

Asked where one would wear a fedora, Campbell responded: “Your hat.” (He immediately corrected himself and said “head” but the show accepted the first answer.)

What Campbell lacked in knowledge he made up for with charm and looks. Sparkling eyes, perfect teeth, an ebullient laugh. And he loves puppies.

Lucky for us, the 26-year-old has not met a social media platform he doesn’t like. He’s on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, Linkedin and Tumblr (yes, Tumblr).

So, here’s what you need to know about the hottest twink from Weakest Link:

He’s Gay

Sorry, ladies – no one this adorable is straight. Campbell is out and proud on social media and, based on a TikTok post, has a thing for daddy types (call me – ed.). He’s also taken. A Facebook post last month refers to “my boyfriend.”

He Comes From A Red State

Campbell hails from Louisville, Kentucky, a city best known, until now, for giving the world baseball bats, Muhammad Ali and beloved character actor Ned Beatty. Campbell moved to Los Angeles in January 2019.

He Is Smarter Than You Think

According to his Linkedin profile, Campbell graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2017 from the University of Kentucky with a 3.85 Grade Point Average and a B.A. in Advertising.

He’s Woke

Despite being from Kentucky, Campbell is an unabashed Democrat who regularly (and justifiably) slammed “spoiled toddler” Donald Trump and promoted the Biden-Harris campaign on social media. His Facebook profile shows that he also supports the Black Lives Matter movement and police reforms. Oh, and he knows that wearing a mask is a good way to protect himself and others from COVID-19.

He’s Modelled

Duh.

He Sells Things

When asked by Weakest Link host Jane Lynch what he did for a living, Campbell replied that he did social media for a humane society. At the time the episode was taped, though, he was apparently between jobs.

According to his Linkedin profile, Campbell only started working as Jr. Social Media & Customer Service Coordinator at Redbarn Pet Products in Long Beach last month. Six months earlier, his job as a sales rep for food brand Michel et Augustin ended after 11 months.

He Really Does Like Animals

In addition to interning at Lexington Humane Society in 2017, Campell spent nearly seven years as a Kennel Assistant at Barbour Lane Animal Hospital in Louisville, where – according to a description on his Linkedin – he was “completely responsible for dozens of animals’ well-being and health.”

Campbell’s social media accounts showcase plenty of dogs – including one, Macy, he adopted a dozen years ago – as well as at least one relative’s cat. He even travelled to Orlando with his pet fish Teddy Westside in a glass.

He Has Diverse Musical Tastes

Campell’s Tumblr – yes, he’s on Tumblr – includes an eclectic playlist with acts like Florence + The Machine, Sia, The Lumineers and Kid Cudi.

He’s A Fan Of Canadian Culture

In a Facebook post last month, Campbell described Canadian series Schitt’s Creek as “a great show.” (He also cried when Canada’s Annie Murphy won an Emmy in September.) On TikTok, Campbell did the “I’m Just a Kid” challenge, which uses the song of the same name by Canada’s Simple Plan.

He Has Quoted The Golden Girls

Like any self-respecting gay man, Campbell knows his Golden Girls lines. In a December 2017 Instagram caption, he quoted Blanche Devereaux in the 1988 “Grab That Dough” episode: “Better late than pregnant.”

He Drives A Practical Car

When you look as good as he does, you don’t need a flashy car. This past summer, Campbell bought a Hyundai Sonata.

He Eats Fast Food

Several posts on YouTube and TikTok suggest Campbell enjoys Taco Bell and Burger King. (To burn the fat, he workouts, runs and cycles.)

He Manscapes

Peruse the photos Campbell has shared on his social media platforms and you will notice his chest alternates between smooth, trimmed and furry. The guy just keeps on giving and giving…
