Montreal’s JFL adds names to 2019 line-up

Pop Goes The News – Wanda Sykes, Jeff Ross, Nick Kroll and Margaret Trudeau – yes, Justin’s mom – are among the guests coming to this summer’s Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.

Sykes will host the July 26 gala, Ross will be back with The Roastmaster’s Invitational (July 24 to 27), and Kroll will do one night of stand-up on July 25.

Trudeau will bring her show Certain Woman Of An Age to JFL for three nights: July 25 to 27.

They join previously announced stars like Aziz Ansari, Trevor Noah, Jim Jefferies, Hasan Minhaj, Rachel Bloom and Jonathan Van Ness at the 37th edition of JFL.

NBA star Blake Griffin is returning to host a night of stand-up (July 25) to benefit the Team Griffin Foundation.

SNL alum and Portlandia star Fred Armisen’s show Comedy For Musicians but Everyone is Welcome will happen on July 27 and Jackass star Steve-O will bring his Bucket List Tour to JFL on July 24.

Second City Toronto’s sketch show She The People runs July 22 to 27.

JFL favourite The Nasty Show is back, with host Bobby Lee and a line-up that includes Big Jay Oakerson, Andrew Schulz, Jessimae Peluso and Bonnie McFarlane. It runs July 17 to 27. Joining previously announced Cristela Alonzo, Gina Yashere and Dave Merheje at The Ethnic Show will be Robby Hoffman, Anthony DeVito, and Rafinha ‘Rafi’ Bastos. The show runs July 10 to 25.

The Brit(ish) show, hosted by festival regular Jimmy Carr, will feature Sarah Millican, Jamali Maddix, Mawaan Rizwan, Fin Taylor and Flo & Joan. It’s on July 26 and 27.

Other additions to the line-up include Canada’s own Shaun Majumder (July 27), Ronny Chieng (July 23-25), Bryan Callen (July 26) and Pete Holmes & Friends (July 26).

Four new comedy specials showcasing homegrown comics like Aisha Brown and Graham Kay, will be taped at JFL for broadcast on Crave and the annual OFF-JFL program includes Cameron Esposito, Sasheer Zamata, the Lucas Brothers, Emma Willmann & Matteo Lane, and Nicole Byer.

Podcasters taping at this year’s JFL include Michael Rapaport, Fortune Feimster, and Mike Ward.
