Pop Goes The News — Stand-up and movie superstar Kevin Hart is paying it forward at this year’s Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.
Hart, who credits the city’s annual comedy festival with launching his career, will listen to pitches from comedians, writers, producers and other creative people at JFL.
Last year, Hart recalled “it all literally started here at his festival.” His current team, he said, came together after he performed in the New Faces showcase at JFL.
At last year’s festival, Hart performed for thousands at the Bell Centre.

“I’m able to do what I’m doing because you guys put me in position to win,” he said while accepting the Comedy Person of the Year Award.
“Just For Laughs, I am a friend forever. I will always come back because I don’t forget.”
Clearly, Hart is a man of his word.
He will hear two-minute pitches from 10 finalists chosen from applications that must be submitted by July 13 (send a one-page outline via email to industry@hahaha.com).
Tickets are on sale for Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network Pitch Panel at 1 p.m. on July 28 at the Hyatt Regency.
Laugh Out Loud, a partnership between Hart’s company and Lionsgate, is a streaming service scheduled to launch next year.
The panel is part of ComedyPRO, which runs in conjunction with JFL.
Just For Laughs runs July 13 to Aug. 1 in Montreal. For tickets go to hahaha.com and follow @JRK_Media on Twitter for updates and coverage during the festival.
