Pop Goes The News — Production is currently underway in Canada and the UK on an ambitious Discovery Canada series starring Jason Momoa.
Six episodes of the hour-long drama Frontier will be shot in St. John’s, NL, Morrisburg, Ont. and Louisbourg, NS as well as in Cornwall, UK.
Momoa (Game of Thrones) stars opposite Canada’s Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove) and Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle) and the UK’s Alun Armstrong (Braveheart) and Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey).
Frontier is being shot in 4K UHD and will be broadcast in Canada on Discovery and Crave TV and around the world on Netflix.
Newfoundland-born director Brad Peyton (San Andreas) is directing the first two episodes of the series. He and Hawco — who worked together on episodes of Republic of Doyle — are also executive producers of the project.
Frontier is a fictional story of the battle for wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century.
