Pop Goes The News — A man claiming to be a U.S. Marine veteran vandalized a bus shelter to protest an advertisement for a Canadian-owned hook-up site.
The unidentified man was caught on camera smashing the glass and removing a poster for Squirt.org, which is owned by Toronto’s Pink Triangle Press.
The vandalism on a Miami street is prefaced by a bizarre rant. “I’ve got nine children. Two boys, seven girls,” the 66-year-old man says.
“I don’t want them seeing this fucking bullshit on the streets of the USA. I fought for it … I didn’t fight for this shit to be put up on my goddamn streets.”
The man goes on to call the poster, which shows two men and the words “Non-Stop Hookups,” disrespectful and insulting.
He then smashes the glass and pulls the advertisement to the ground.
The man looks into the camera and says he is willing to be charged.
“I stand by my morals,” he says.
Video of the incident, which reportedly took place in November 2014, was posted online Monday.
Advertisements on the transit shelter are managed by Outfront Media (formerly CBS Outdoor).
