Pop Goes The News — Canada’s Paula Fairfield picked up a Creative Arts Emmy Award on Saturday for her work on Game of Thrones.

Fairfield is part of a team of seven who won for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series for the episode Hardhome.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Fairfield, who began working on Game of Thrones after the first two seasons, is responsible for the sounds of the dragons, wolves, mammoths, giants and White Walkers.

Born in Halifax and raised in Bridgewater, she studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design before moving to Montreal.

She later settled in Toronto, where she co-managed an artists centre and found work at production company SoundDogs.

Fairfield has been working in the U.S. since 1998.

She is no stranger to the Emmys. Her work on Game of Thrones earned her nominations in 2013 and 2014 and she has four previous nominations — including three for sound editing on the TV series Lost.

On Saturday, Game of Thrones won in several other categories. The list of winners also includes American Horror Story: Freak Show, Bessie, and Transparent.
