Pop Goes The News — A comedy about estranged family members who reunite during the holiday season after the death of their mother will be made in Toronto.
A Meyers Christmas is scheduled to shoot in the city from Oct. 26 until Dec. 11. Pre-production begins next week.
The Universal Pictures feature will be directed by David E. Talbert (Baggage Claim), who also wrote the screenplay.
Casting details have not been announced.
Producing A Meyers Christmas is Will Packer, one of the executive producers of Straight Outta Compton, which grossed more than $140 million in its first three weeks.
In early 2013, Toronto played host to production of The Best Man Holiday, a sequel to 1999’s The Best Man starring Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau, Morris Chestnut, Monica Calhoun, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Melissa De Sousa, and Regina Hall.
A Meyers Christmas is due in theatres on Nov. 11, 2016.
