Pop Goes The News — Canadian hockey player Brooks Laich is engaged to dancer and actress Julianne Hough.
The 27-year-old bride-to-be shared the happy news Tuesday on social media.
“We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement,” she wrote on Instagram.
The couple shared a photo of Hough embracing Laich while she extends her left arm to admire her ring. A red ring box is sitting on the railing beside the couple.
The proposal reportedly took place last week in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and was celebrated with family members including Laich’s father Harold and Hough’s grandparents Bob and Colleen.
Laich, 32, and Hough have been together since being introduced by actor Terry Sears nearly two years ago. She previously had a long relationship with Ryan Seacrest.
A native of Wawota, Saskatchewan — about 2.5 hours southeast of Regina — Laich currently plays for the Washington Capitals.
Hough is best known for being featured on Dancing with the Stars and has appeared in the 2011 remake of Footloose and the movies Rock of Ages and Safe Haven.
The couple has not announced if they have set a date — but they may want to consider returning to Idaho for the wedding. Hough’s uncle John and aunt Tina own The Roosevelt Inn, which boasts on its website about offering “a unique and historic location where friends and family can gather in an elegant and private setting for your perfect day.”
