Pop Goes The News — Veteran entertainment reporter Rudy Blair was let go from Toronto’s 680 News on Thursday after more than two decades.
“We parted ways as of today,” Blair revealed in a Facebook post.
He praised the Rogers-owned station for providing him with many memorable opportunities.
“It would not have happened if I didn’t work for 680 News,” wrote Blair, a Humber College grad who was hired at the station in 1993.
Blair was a fixture at entertainment events in Toronto and beyond (he covered several Grammy Award shows) and was highly regarded by artists, publicists and other reporters.
His list of honours includes several Radio-Television News Directors Association Edward R. Murrow Awards and an Honorary Degree from Humber in 2013.
On Facebook, Blair vowed “this ain’t goodbye.”
