Pop Goes The News — Vancouver’s airport has been named one of the world’s top airports by one of Britain’s most popular newspapers.
Vancouver International Airport ranks No. 8 on a list compiled by the Daily Mail.
It’s the only Canadian airport on the list.
“Overlooking the sea, the airport boasts a butler and cleaning service, along with a Plaza Premium Lounge for guests to unwind in,” the Mail raves.
“Children can explore four play areas, or sample food from outlets throughout the 6,400 square foot departure lounge. Marine-lovers can gaze at a giant 20,000-gallon tank which features over 5,000 creatures.”
Only one other North American airport made the cut — McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas is ranked fifth.
According to the Daily Mail, Seoul’s Incheon airport is the world’s best thanks to its cinemas, museum, gardens, putting course and ice rink.
It is followed by airports in Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Munich. Ranked below Vancouver’s airport are London’s Heathrow and Hamad Airport in Doha, Qatar.
Earlier this year, YVR was named the 11th best airport in the 2015 Skytrax World Airport Awards. Toronto’s Pearson International Airport was ranked 43rd and Montreal’s Trudeau was No. 87.
